The Age of Responsibility is upon us

For thousands of years people have been programmed to resist the notion of ‘evil.’ They have been programmed to push away negative thoughts and emotions. They have been taught to suppress their temptations and what not but let me tell you that rejecting all of this negativity within you is actually rejecting half of yourself. One need not resist evil, because it doesn’t exist. Let us drop the labels of good and evil because they originate from a very dark and superstitious medieval era, and only cause more harm than good.

Now I am not saying that there isn’t any negativity in the world, of course there is, but we need to realize that there is no “force outside of ourselves” tempting us or pushing us in negative directions. All of these trials, tests and temptations originate from the negative beliefs that are lodged within your own unconscious mind.

“Jesus Christ said, “Resist not evil,” for He knew in reality, there is no evil; therefore nothing to resist, evil has come of man’s “vain imagination,” or a belief in two powers, good and evil.” –Florence Scovel Shinn

Christ also said, “Love your enemies and do good unto those who persecute you.” He isn’t just talking about people here. He is referring to the negative thoughts, emotions and beliefs within you that will do nothing but persecute yourself, if you make them your enemy. Do not resist them, love them as they are all within you for the purpose of giving you the contrast you need in order to truly be the version of yourself that you prefer to be. They are sign posts pointing you towards aspects of yourself that you are not yet loving. So work with the emotions and thoughts to discover what negative belief systems in the unconscious they are pointing you towards.

“Nothing on earth can resist an absolutely non-resistant person. The Chinese say that water is the most powerful element, because it is perfectly non-resistant. It can wear away a rock, and sweep all before it.” –Florence Scovel Shinn

Everything in your reality is a projection of your own consciousness. Nothing is really outside of you. You are the source of all you perceive and even the other people in your reality are simply different versions of yourself. Blaming some outside force such as “Satan” or “Maya” really doesn’t work for us anymore. We are moving into an age of complete responsibility for our own creative power. Outside forces do not exist, because as I said before everything is made up of your own energy in your reality.

Back in the medieval age, people associated the symbol of the sun with light, positive energy and expansion. They also associated the moon with darkness, limitation and illusion. Is it any wonder why we see saints and religious figures with the sun behind their heads? And we see demons with horns, resembling a crescent moon turned on its side on their head? That’s where these symbols came from. In those times, people didn’t truly understand what was happening to them, they didn’t understand that they are the source of all they perceive in their reality, and so they pointed their fingers at some “evil external force”, instead of taking responsibility for their “sins.” They blamed “the devil and his demons”, but they didn’t realize that they are the complete creators of their reality. Anything we truly imagine to be true will be, and many of the negative belief systems in their unconscious mind that was convincing them to act in negative ways actually manifested into gruesome demonic forms. These forms only came into existence however because their own creative power brought them into being. Like I keep saying everything is you in the reality you perceive, so instead of creating demons, befriend your negative beliefs and they will serve you wholeheartedly.

Our unconscious mind is full of belief systems that are both positive and negative. The positive beliefs expand our consciousness and the negative beliefs inflict limitation on it. Both are required as we experience an incarnation in this realm, as we all need some degree of limitation to have a physical reality experience. So, even the greatest masters such as Jesus, Krishna, Buddha, Yogananda etc still had some degree of delusion or limitation within them to enable them to remain a physical being. We need the darkness just as much as we need the light. Let us not inflict a value judgement on the darkness, as it is actually the light of God inverted.

“Keep thy heart (or imagination) with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life.” –The Book of Proverbs

Nothing is in your life by chance of accident. Your own creative power has manifested everything you have and are experiencing. All the negative thoughts, beliefs and emotions you have on a daily basis hijacking your perception are there because of your own choice. People can say “Oh but the environment I grew up in has programmed me like this.” You are the environment, you are your mother, your father, your brothers and sisters, your friends and you are your school teachers. You are everything, and you chose everything in this reality simulation game you call life, now stand up and take responsibility for all you have created, and all you are creating in the present moment.

“Have only love in your heart for others. The more you see the good in them, the more you will establish good in yourself.” –Paramahansa Yogananda

This is because other people are you. Your heart is your imagination and your imagination or creative power creates the reality you experience and the other people in it as I mentioned before. If you hold resentment within yourself towards another person for example then the only version of that person you will get will be one to match that resentment. It is important to understand that one needs to drop negative beliefs they have about other people in their reality also. Because your beliefs not only determine the reality you experience but also the versions of all your loved ones within it that you will interact with.

There is an old legend, that Adam and Eve ate of “Maya the Tree of Illusion,” and saw two powers instead of one power, God. Therefore, evil is a false law man has made for himself, through psychoma or soul sleep. Soul sleep means, that man’s soul has been hypnotized by the race belief (of sin, sickness and death, etc.) which is carnal or mortal thought, and his affairs have out-pictured his illusions.” –Florence Scovel Shinn

There is only one God, there is only one power in all of existence and that power is consciousness itself. Consciousness is neither positive nor negative, it just is. One thing people need to understand about life in this reality is that everything which manifests in your experience from moment to moment is actually neutral. It only becomes positive or negative the moment you define it as such. Most people define the circumstances in front of them automatically and usually in a negative and insecure manner. The automatic definitions of the circumstances will always be a reflection of whatever beliefs are most dominant in the unconscious at that moment. It is time to change this automatic habit of labelling things negatively. Everything is you, like I keep saying; stop making yourself a victim to your own creation. Take responsibility and label everything that happens in your life in a positive way. Even if something challenging does manifest in your life and you struggle to assign a definitive positive meaning unto it right now, still label it as positive with the recognition that it is there to serve you in some way, shape or form, and although you don’t see it now, you will see it eventually.

“But those who adore the indestructible, the indescribable, the immutable, the unmoving, the Ever-Constant; who have subjugated all of the senses, possess even mindedness in every circumstance and devote themselves to the good of all beings-verily, they too attain Me.” – The Bhagavad Gita

To possess even mindedness in every circumstance is to understand that everything that manifests is there to serve you, so label it all in a positive way and be in resistance to nothing. Accept what is, and just flow with life, because everything that manifests is what needs to at that moment. Every circumstance that does manifest is your own creation and it is there to show you one of two things; it is there to either reinforce your bliss, your joy, your love and passion, or it is there to reflect back unto you things within your own unconscious mind that are not in alignment with the self of your preference. It is a win win situation either way, so it doesn’t have to be negative at all. All is one and it is there to awaken more of your true divine self, each and every moment.

Let us then label this upcoming age, the age of responsibility as it is now the time that we all take responsibility for what is within us. Take a stand and stop being a victim to your own creative power.  You do this by understanding that it is not really the circumstance that matters so much; it is the way you are looking at the circumstance. Your labels are everything, and you can look at any circumstance in a positive or negative way and you will get two completely different effects from it. The main saying of the Gnostics was the term “Know thyself” because the moment you go back unto yourself and the way you are looking at the reality in front of you, is the moment you grab the reins of your life and begin to take responsibility for it.

If you want an enemy, you will surely find one. Don’t make an enemy of anything in life, because to do so is to throw yourself into opposition with your own darkness and split yourself in two.  Own your darkness because it is only when you do can you actually become whole within yourself.

-May the force be with you

  1. Nice article. I get what you are saying, and I know how difficult it can be to express these ideas of unity, it’s like all the words in my language are used to express differences. Labeling things as positive is still being caught in duality. Transcending duality requires merging the two sides ( yoking, yoga). Transcending negative also requires transcending positive. Negative is like roots of the tree. Positive the trunk and branches. Both equally useful and dependent on each other. Learning to see both sides in everything is the transcending, is the true yoking. Each label inherently contains its opposite. I know, that makes communication with words kinda tricky. But when everything is one, communication is easy, because both the speaker and listener are the same. So in conclusion, take your own advice. Everything you need to know about yourself you just wrote, just change all the you’s and we’s to first person and see what you are trying to tell yourself. Good luck and balance. Aaron
